How to use the Logistics Toolkit

Currency

Live GCC-focused FX rates refresh every few minutes from OANDA. Enter an amount, pick source and target currencies, and the converter updates instantly. USD cross rates are listed for quick reference when quoting freight, fuel surcharges, or customs values.

Fuel Prices

UAE monthly pump prices are the Primary reference — published by the UAE Fuel Price Committee and scraped from IPT Energy. GCC country prices are a Secondary Reference for cross-border legs: Saudi Arabia prefers Saudi Aramco when reachable, otherwise GlobalPetrolPrices. Other GCC states use GlobalPetrolPrices data sourced from national regulators and NOCs. Gasoline shown is typically Octane 95 unless the publisher lists more grades.

Truck Requirement

Enter shipment weight, volume, pallet count, and cargo flags. The calculator suggests the smallest suitable vehicle from a UAE or GCC fleet table, applies a safety margin, and shows weight vs volume binding. Alternatives and regional reference trucks help compare emirate-standard vs GCC-standard payloads for mixed routes.

UAE vs GCC: UAE Primary Standard reflects FTA-style payload and cube assumptions used first for domestic UAE road transport. GCC Secondary Standard is a reference for Oman, KSA, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait cross-border legs — always confirm local axle limits and permits before dispatch.

Freight Quote

Build an itemized lane quote from your own rates: per kg, per CBM, per km, or flat per trip. Add fuel surcharge %, tolls, accessorial lines, and margin. Copy the breakdown to paste into email or invoicing. All figures are planning aids — confirm your tariff before billing.

Chargeable Weight

Standard LTL rule: chargeable weight = max(actual kg, volume × volumetric factor). Choose common presets (167 or 333 kg/CBM) or enter a custom factor. Shows whether weight or volume is binding.

Fuel Surcharge %

Compare current diesel to your baseline price: FSC % = ((current − baseline) ÷ baseline) × 100. Optionally pull live diesel from the Fuel tab. Carriers use different floors, caps, and update cycles — verify against your contract.

Unit Converter

Quick conversions for mass (kg/lb), length (cm/in/m/ft), volume (CBM/CFT/L/gal), and temperature (°C/°F). Runs in the browser with no API call.

Warehouse Space

Model gross dimensions, aisle width, staging percentage, and top clearance. Pallet type and stack height drive how many positions fit on the net floor. Results include floor and volume utilization, max weight capacity, and a plain-language capacity suggestion. Layout assumes block stacking with main aisle access — adjust for racking, pick faces, or hazardous zones.

Trip Cost, Transit ETA, Free Time, Multi-stop

Trip Cost estimates fuel, driver, and toll spend from your inputs. Transit ETA adds transit and buffer days (optional weekend skip). Free Time counts down to last free day for demurrage/detention planning. Multi-stop rolls up weight and CBM across stops and suggests a truck — all generic, user-entered values.

Receiving, Days on Hand, Pallet Build, FIFO/FEFO

Receiving checks dock slots vs scheduled trucks. Days on Hand computes inventory cover and reorder point. Pallet Build validates stack weight and overhang. FIFO/FEFO sorts batches by expiry for ship order at delivery.

Landed Cost, Doc Checklist, DG Segregation

Landed Cost converts goods value (live FX when available), applies your duty/VAT/fees. Doc Checklist lists typical documents by shipment flags. DG Segregation uses a simplified class matrix for road planning — not a substitute for full IMDG/ADR review.

Incoterms quick reference

EXW — buyer handles everything from seller's door. FOB — seller delivers on board; buyer pays ocean/air from port. CIF — seller pays freight + insurance to destination port. DAP — seller delivers to named place; buyer handles import clearance. DDP — seller handles import duties and delivery. Confirm exact split of cost and risk in your contract.

Shipment Reference

Generates an internal tracking ID (prefix + date + sequence). Use your own prefix convention for filing and customer updates.

Dangerous Goods disclaimer

DG suggestions are planning aids only. UAE DG road transport requires an approved vehicle, DG-trained driver, placards, MSDS/SDS, and an emergency response plan. Class 1 (explosives) and Class 7 (radioactive) need special UAE permits and escorts. Bulk liquid DG requires tanker service with compatibility checks. Limited Quantity (LQ) and marine pollutant flags affect segregation rules. GCC secondary values do not replace country-specific DG authority approval — verify permits, escorts, and route restrictions before every dispatch.
